JUNIOR FARM SCHOOL

Junior Farm School is a unique opportunity for young kids in grades TK-1st grade to experience the wonders of farm life while engaging in hands-on activities and educational adventures. Themed units integrate art, STEM, music, movement, and nature, providing a wide variety of experiences for these early learners. This two day class will help kids connect with the environment and with each other as they explore the natural world, tap into their imagination and creativity, and build lasting memories together. Kids must turn 4 by 9/1/25 to be eligible.

HOMESTEADING

Welcome to Homesteading, where kids roll up their sleeves and dive into the vibrant world of farming and homesteading. As spring bursts to life, students will experience the excitement of new growth and renewal, learning about planting, pollination, and the beginnings of the growing cycle. Students will enjoy creative homesteading projects and farm-to-table preparations. This class will give kids a hands-on experience caring for plants and animals while exploring how nature awakens after winter.​

CULINARY PASSPORT

Culinary Passport invites students to taste their way around the world as they explore cultures, traditions, and histories that shape communities. Each class focuses on a different country, delving into its geography, customs, and way of life. Through hands-on activities, storytelling, and interactive lessons, students will discover how food reflects cultural values, connects people, and plays a role in important traditions and celebrations. This class offers a dynamic and engaging way to explore the world, fostering curiosity, global awareness, and appreciation for diverse ways of life - all while enjoying delicious flavors along the way.

CERAMICS

We are excited to partner with Joey from DOHO Designs to bring ceramics to Gathered Oak. In this class, students will explore the endless possibilities of working with clay. From hand-building techniques like pinch pots, coils, and slabs to experimenting with texture, form, and simple sculpting, kids will bring their ideas to life in three dimensions. The class encourages creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression as students shape, decorate, and glaze their unique pieces. Perfect for beginners and young artists alike, each project helps students develop fine motor skills while gaining confidence in turning a lump of clay into a work of art they can proudly take home.

TEXTILE TALES

Our new and improved Book Club! In this hands-on class, students explore the worlds of literature and fiber arts at the same time! Students dive deeply into a chapter book over several weeks, reading and discussing the story in detail while creating textile projects inspired by key characters, scenes, and themes. By connecting storytelling with hands-on creativity, students develop reading comprehension, critical thinking, and artistic skills, all while expressing their own interpretations of characters, settings, themes, and plots. This class is for 3rd-6th Grade.

ATHLETE ACADEMY

This high-energy class combines fitness circuits with hands-on exploration of different sports, giving kids a fun and active way to build strength, agility, and coordination. Each session includes a mix of cardio, strength, and skill-building exercises, along with opportunities to try new sports, practice teamwork, and challenge themselves. Students will rotate through fitness stations, learn the history and fundamentals of various games, and develop confidence in their abilities while staying active and engaged. Perfect for kids who love movement, competition, and trying new ways to play and stay fit!

YEARBOOK PRESS

In this class, students become storytellers, photographers, and designers as they explore all areas of journalism while helping create the school yearbook and other school publications. Kids will strengthen their writing skills by crafting articles, features, interviews, and captions, explore graphic design by laying out pages, selecting fonts, and adding creative visuals, and develop photography skills by capturing school events, portraits, and action shots. This hands-on class encourages creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail, giving students the chance to document school life, report on news, and share stories with the whole school community. By the end of the year, they’ll have a finished yearbook to share with the whole community as well as a variety of journalistic pieces!

EARTH ENGINEERS

Welcome to Earth Engineers—an exciting, hands-on elective where students explore the wonders of Earth science, dive into the world of engineering, and learn how to protect our planet. In this class, students will embark on a journey to understand Earth’s systems, the forces that shape our world, and the delicate balance between humans and nature. From the atmosphere and weather patterns to ecosystems and sustainability, Earth Engineers covers it all through a scientific lens focused on creative problem-solving and design. Students will discover how Earth’s systems work together as they engage in projects and experiments and design innovative solutions to real-world environmental challenges. By the end of the course, students will have a deeper understanding of Earth’s place in the universe and the responsibility we all share in protecting it.

*This course will cover a significant amount of science standards for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade if taken both semesters.

NINOS & NATURE

In Niños and Nature, kids will learn beginner Spanish while exploring the outdoors and discovering the rich cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Students will build their language skills through interactive lessons, while also engaging in art projects, nature study, cooking simple recipes, and enjoying stories that highlight the cultures and customs of various Spanish-speaking countries. This class will deepen kids’ connection to both nature and the global community as they have fun learning a new language through creative experiences. New students as well as returning students are welcome to attend this re-imagined Beginning Spanish experience!

WONDER LAB

This class explores scientific concepts—like color chemistry, weather, plants, animals, motion, and simple engineering—through creative art projects. Each week blends discovery with expression as kids experiment with drawing, painting, sculpting, building, and mixed media to bring science to life. This hands-on class encourages imagination, curiosity, and problem-solving, giving students the chance to explore the connections between art and science in a fun and engaging way. This class is for kids in grades K-3rd.
